What Is Suicide Preparedness Training?
Suicide preparedness training is a type of program that provides individuals with the tools they need to evaluate whether a person is considering or at risk of suicide and provide a model with regard to the next steps.
This type of training teaches participants how to speak to someone who is thinking of suicide effectively — using a suicidal narrative rather than a traditional suicide risk averse response. It also helps them create a safety plan to support the person to stay safe and engage in help-seeking, should suicide become a concern again.
Our suicide preparedness program is unique because it is individualised. It takes each person’s history, life circumstances, and culture into account and doesn’t offer a one-size-fits-all approach to addressing their mental health.
Estimated completion time: 1 hour (more with optional resources). Progress is auto-saved, allowing flexible learning. Ensure an optimal experience by updating your browser and enabling pop-ups. This course is optimised for desktops, laptops, and tablets.
Important Content Warning! This program delves into challenging topics that may evoke sadness, distress, or trigger traumatic memories, especially for those who have experienced abuse, violence, or childhood trauma.
We acknowledge that these reactions can be overwhelming. If you require support, please use the resources tab in the training for a comprehensive list of available assistance. We strongly encourage you to connect with a professional for further guidance and assistance. Remember, you’re not alone on this journey.
