Advanced RTW and WorkCover 2-Day TrainingThe focus of this advanced level training will build on your current knowledge as a RTW Coordinator and you will learn how to become strategically involved in managing more complex issues. The course will include a focus on proactive early intervention and incident management strategies and include strategies for managing complex RTW barriers.

The focus of this advanced level training will build on your current knowledge as a RTW Coordinator and you will learn how to become strategically involved in managing more complex issues. The course will include a focus on proactive early intervention and incident management strategies and include strategies for managing complex RTW barriers.

The course is delivered by a VWA Approved trainer and following successful completion of the two days, participants will be awarded with a certificate of achievement.

 

Who should attend:

It is a prerequisite that participants have completed the basic 2-day RTW Coordinator Training and hold a minimum of 6 months experience in return to work. The course is designed for those involved in the injury management process and who wish to take their knowledge and skills to the next level.

 

What will be covered:

Part 1 of 2 of this advanced training course covers the following 5 topics:

  • Section 1 Recent WorkCover Changes

Learn what’s new in Return to Work. This section incorporates changes, which has occurred in recent years and how these changes impact an employer. Participants will learn how to use the tools provided to effectively meet their return to work obligations whilst ‘fresh’ topics will be discussed and explored including the change to the new WIRC Act 2013.

  • Section 2 Implementing a RTW Culture

This section explores the current research associated with the importance of a positive RTW culture including a practical model that can be used within an employer to change organisational culture.

  • Section 3 Supervisor Role in RTW

The crucial role of the supervisor is explored in detail including how the initial treatment of the worker following injury is an integral component of the injury management and recovery process for the injured party. An evidence based approach will be explored that applies best practice strategies through increased levels of support, leadership and decision-making involvement, and improved organisational morale. Equip participants to achieve supervisor engagement and buy in to the RTW process.

  • Section 4 Managing Complex Claims

This section explores typical barriers faced by RTW Coordinators and teaches participants how to map and negotiate outcomes. This section will equip participants to better align claims, providers, return to work and treatment strategies in achieving sustainable outcomes. The biopsychosocial model will be explored in detail which aim to equip injury management specialists to better manage psychological claims and/or psychosocial issues which are impeding the return to work process. Participants will also identify key factors/flags that highlight complexity in a claim, whilst learning and developing strategic case management skills to overcome these barriers.

  • Section 5 Premium

Learn the fundamentals of premium, including how an employer’s premium is calculated including the influencing statistical case estimate (SCE). This section will explain how an injured worker directly and indirectly affects an employer’s premium and how an employer is able to reduce their premium.

Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the 2 days.
